Apple storage destroyed in fire

On the evening of March 20, a major blaze erupted at a controlled atmosphere apple storage facility near Port Burwell, Ontario. The 60,000 square-foot building was completely destroyed, including refrigeration equipment, apples and storage bins.

 

Owner Kevin Martin, Martin’s Family Fruit Farms, of Waterloo, Ontario estimates a $3 million loss. The facility was used to store apples grown in the area.
