Dole recalls salads in Canada

On August 8, Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc recalled its Dole brand Baby Spinach with Tender Reds from five Canadian provinces including Atlantic Canada and Ontario. The move was prompted by tests conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) that indicated the potential for contamination by Listeria monocytogenes.

Best-before dates on the 142-gram product were August 4.

According to the CFIA’s website, the agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.Since August 8, no updates have been provided by CFIA on further test results.

At deadline time for Fresh News from the Grower, corporate communications for Dole Fresh Vegetables had not responded to questions about whether any of the leafy greens had been grown in Canada or whether any of the product was packed in Canada.
