Moving forward on apple research

The CHC apple working group toured state-of-the-art storage at Belliveau Orchards in Memramcook, New Brunswick.

It's always great to get together with peers from your industry and discuss both wins and issues, and how to make things better.  A couple of weeks ago that's exactly what happened here in New Brunswick when we hosted the Canadian Horticultural Council apple working group!

We had great representation from every apple-growing province, had the deputy minister of agriculture and the assistant deputy minister of New Brunswick attend, follow-up meetings with the Prince Edward Island ag minister and even representation from parliament, by the Hon.TJ Harvey, Tobique–Mactaquac. During this meeting we were able to put together a Maritime-wide research and development initiative that is supported by all levels of government in all the provinces, and by Dalhousie University Agriculture Faculty.

When you have an industry that wants to work together, cooperate, and has the desire to continually improve, that industry is unstoppable!  Welcome to agriculture folks!
