Ontario's Outstanding Young Farmer

Dusty Zamecnik, Ontario's Outstanding Young Farmer for 2017

Dusty Zamecnik won the title of Ontario's Outstanding Young Farmer for 2017. He is a horticulture farmer from Norfolk County growing strawberry plants for propagation, blueberries and hops. The 27 year-old is the production manager of EZ Grow Farms and Hometown Brew Co.

In a written statement to The Grower, Zamecnik had the following to say about the experience:

"I am extremely honoured to not only be selected but as well stand beside the other nominees of this award. To represent our province and Norfolk County on the national platform is an amazing opportunity. Our teams at both EZ Grow and Hometown Brew Co. are responsible for this just as much as I am, if not more. Thank you to Murray Porteous for the nomination!"

He won over three other nominees and received the award during the provincial competition held at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show. He will travel to B.C. for the national competition in November to vie for the title of Canada's Outstanding Young Farmer.
