From August 13 to August 19, 2018, is Wild Blueberry Week in New Brunswick. This first edition serves as thanks to New Brunswickers who are loyal to wild blueberry and to convince others that they are missing on something exceptionally good for their health… and their taste buds.
The week is an initiative of Bleuets NB Blueberries (BNBB) with the collaboration of the NB Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries. According to BNBB many people still confuse wild blueberries and cultivated blueberries.
‘’The wild blueberry season lasts only from August to mid-September but people should be aware that they can find wild blueberries in the frozen section of their favourite grocery store all year. Same taste, same benefits,” said John Schenkels, chair, BNBB.
Seventy-five restaurants across the province will be serving wild blueberry dishes during the week: appetizers, drinks, entrées and dessert for a colourful and tasteful experience. A full list is posted on www.nbwilblue.ca.
