A new dormant fungicide is available for pome and stone fruit growers in Canada, with the recent label expansion for Parasol FL (flowable) fungicide. Parasol FL – a group M1 copper hydroxide fungicide – is registered for use on apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, hazelnuts and filberts.
It’s aimed at protection from diseases including fire blight, coryneum blight, bacterial blight, eastern filbert blight, bacterial canker and leaf curl.
Nufarm Agriculture Inc., manufacturer of the fungicide, says application coverage is key for optimal disease protection. Better coverage on the leaf surface of fruits or vegetables provides better disease protection.
Parasol FL is used as a dormant application only for tree fruits and nuts, and is also registered in beans, cucumbers, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes.
Pome fruits commonly grown in Canada include apples and pears. Stone fruits include peaches, plums, cherries, apricots, and nectarines.
