NatureFresh Farms of Leamington, Ontario look forward to expanded production through 2019, with construction underway to add 32 acres to the current 130 acres of greenhouses in southwestern Ontario.
The Leamington location currently produces bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. Plans are to dedicate the additional acreage to tomatoes, according to Kara Badder, marketing project manager.
Meanwhile, the 45-acre Delta, Ohio location is in its third winter growing season, thanks to high-pressure sodium lighting. They’re picking, packing and shipping tomatoes-on-the-vine, beefsteak, and a wide range of specialty varieties. Delta lies in the northwestern region of the state and was strategically chosen by NatureFresh to allow for quick transport of products to all the company’s North American retail partners.
NatureFresh Farms has developed a strong partnership with the Ohio Proud program, featuring Ohio Proud stickers on all tomato products grown and packed at the NatureFresh Delta location.
