As Canada’s food system faces an unprecedented shortage of people, the need to increase engagement and belonging with existing employees has never been greater.

The Grow Our People Unconference is designed for people in agriculture and food to come together to learn, connect and get energized.  Unlike other events, it kicks off at night with the single keynote speaker, Dr. Rumeet Billan.   Dr. Billan will share her unique insights on the Science of Trust and Belonging, valuable for individuals, teams and the entire sector.

Dr. Rumeet Billan is an award-winning, internationally recognized entrepreneur, learning architect, and humanitarian. Her mission is to transform workplace cultures through research, training, and experiences that enable trust, foster belonging, and build resilience. Dr. Billan is the CEO and owner of Women of Influence and President and CEO of Viewpoint Leadership.

“We have created this event experience to help inspire and build skills for everyone who works in our food system, with streams for Board members, people who manage people and individual leaders early in their careers,”  shared event co-founder, Mary Thornley.  “There’s no need to feel guilty about not listening to a speaker in the big room, hallway conversations are encouraged!”

Attendees will leave the event with new skills, deeper networks, and a renewed sense of enthusiasm for the agri-food sector.  Event organizers Brenda Trask, Mary Thornley, and Crystal Mackay won the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Award of Excellence for the first edition of this event, and are excited to invite everyone to register for the second.

The Grow Your People Unconference will be held in-person at the Queen’s Landing hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake from May 28-30, 2024.  Register and find out more on www.loft32.ca/growourpeople and book your rooms by April 12th.
