BC Blueberry Council board elects new chair

The British Columbia Blueberry Council board has elected Dalbir Benipal as chair of its 600-member association. Benipal immigrated to Canada from India in 2000 and started his small-animal veterinary practice in 2002. Ten years ago, he started growing blueberries.

Based in Abbotsford, Benipal has pledged to improve productivity through varietal improvement of blueberries.

He represents 600 growers who represent 27,000 acres of highbush blueberries in the province. He succeeds Jack Bates, Delta, BC.
