The smoke from U.S. wildfires is affecting apple harvest in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley while Hurricane Teddy is bearing down on Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley on September 22.    

Processing potato crop could be smallest since 2011

Due to drought in eastern Canada and weather challenges in western Canada, the United Potato Growers of Canada forecast the potato crop could be down by six million hundredweight.

Dec 15 is registry deadline for BC employers of seasonal workers

The British Columbia government will require employers of temporary foreign workers to register with the province by December 15, 2020. There is no registration fee. A certificate of registration will be required before applying for a Labour Market Impact Assessment.
