Newly developed cauliflower, broccoli and tomato varieties from Bayer will be featured at Fruit Logistica, which runs February 6-8, 2019 in Berlin. Seminis Seeds for open-field cultivation and De Ruiter Seeds for greenhouses were acquired as part of last year’s acquisition of Monsanto.

Delisher is a cherry plum tomato variety launched under the De Ruiter brand. Bayer says it’s promoting Delisher tomatoes because of their sweet taste, texture, looks, and because they stay strongly attached to their truss until after harvest.

Bayer is also showcasing higher yielding broccoli that delivers a milder and sweeter taste. Under the Seminis Bellaverde broccoli brand, Bayer has launched varieties such as “Sibsey” – a sweeter, crunchy broccoli variety with uniform green colour to make it also usable for snacking.

In the cauliflower segment, Bayer will present its new Whitex variety within the Curdivex cauliflower range. It has a white, easy-to-see curd, with a more flexible harvest window for growers. Bayer says Whitex has excellent shelf life with the curd staying whiter for longer, which is important to retailers and consumers.
