Expanded Cimegra label gives potato growers broader insect protection

BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada (BASF) has expanded the Cimegra insecticide label to include foliar control of European corn borer and flea beetle in potatoes. The expanded label provides growers with additional options to help protect yield potential from key insect pests throughout the growing season.

Cimegra contains the active ingredient broflanilide, an IRAC Group 30 mode of action, that provides potato growers with an effective tool for resistance management when used in rotation with other insecticide groups.

"As emerging pest challenges continue to evolve, growers need reliable solutions that help protect crop quality," said Chris Vander Kant, corn, soybeans & horticulture crop manager, BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada. “This label expansion now gives potato growers greater flexibility to manage important pest threats, while building on the proven performance they expect from Cimegra."

Potato growers already rely on Cimegra for in-furrow control of wireworm and foliar control of Colorado potato beetle. The expanded label broadens the product's role in protecting potatoes from damaging insect pressure.

Registered by the Health Canada Pesticides Regulatory Directorate (PRD), for both in-furrow and foliar applications, Cimegra can be added into integrated pest management programs. For aphid control, growers can also incorporate Sefina® insecticide powered by Inscalis® to their rotation.
