The Potato Growers of Alberta (PGA) have launched a 2025 funding call for both major research and innovation programs: the PGA Research Fund and the Alberta Potato Investment Fund (APIF). This marks a new chapter in Alberta’s potato research landscape as it will be the first to utilize the newly developed online application platform, now live on the association’s website.
The PGA Research Fund supports a wide range of applied research projects that align with the evolving needs of Alberta’s potato sector. From improving agronomic practices to addressing pest and disease challenges, the fund is focused on projects that deliver practical, high-impact results for seed, fresh and processing growers.
Meanwhile, the Alberta Potato Investment Fund represents a powerful collaboration between the PGA and Alberta’s three major fry processors: Cavendish Farms, McCain Foods and Lamb Weston. The industry-driven fund is focused on advancing innovation and research that directly supports the growth and sustainability of Alberta’s processing sector. By pooling resources and aligning priorities, APIF ensures that industry challenges are tackled collaboratively and strategically.
