John Barlow, MP for the Alberta riding of Foothills, is taking the role of Shadow Ministry of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour. He is returning to a role he held for a year after the 2015 election. His new role will also intersect with agriculture since access to labour and talent of all dimensions is one of the top issues.

As reported by HighRiverOnline, the federal Conservative leader Andrew Scheer made several changes to the shadow cabinet on September 7.

According to John Barlow’s Facebook page, he said: “It has been a pleasure to serve as Associate Shadow Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food for the past year, and I look forward to the coming year standing up for the rights of hard working Canadians and those striving to enter the workforce.”

John Barlow travelled extensively this past summer, visiting the greenhouse of Jan VanderHout, chair of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association.
