BC cranberry harvest is under way

.
.

The British Columbia cranberry harvest has begun, with the first berries for the fresh market being harvested. Harvest is a bit early this year due to the favourable pollination weather in the spring ana a drier than average summer. This year, growers are expecting a crop similar to last year’s. In the coming weeks producers will harvest berries that will end up in juices, sauces, sweetened dried cranberries (Craisins) and more.

"Harvest season is underway, and a few more weeks of sunshine and cooler evenings should help bring the crop to its full potential. Cranberry quality is looking great, and the yield looks promising. Best wishes to all growers for a safe and abundant harvest,” stated Stephanie Nelson, chair of the BC Cranberry Marketing Commission.
