Steve Dimen, chair of the Ontario Produce Marketing Association (OPMA) has announced the resignation of its president.

“It is with mixed emotions that the Board of Directors announces Michelle Broom’s resignation as president of The Ontario Produce Marketing Association, effective February 11, 2022,” he states.

“Over the last three years, Michelle has been instrumental in supporting and executing the Board’s strategic direction and she has implemented many new initiatives to ensure continued growth and success as an association. Michelle’s inspiring leadership has left a lasting impression on our organization, membership and community.”

The OPMA lists her most significant accomplishments which include:

·       Safely navigating the OPMA financially through the pandemic while continuing to move the association forward and adding value to the membership

·       Delivering a three-year strategic plan to make the OPMA a connection hub for the industry and consumers

·       Continuing to grow the association’s digital footprint with more than 25 million media impressions last year alone

“Although Michelle will be greatly missed by the staff, Board and membership, she is embarking upon an incredible new journey,” says Dimen. “Michelle and her husband are planning to take some time for themselves and to explore the world before settling down for their next phase of life.”

The Board will launch an executive search to identify a suitable candidate to succeed Michelle Broom in the coming weeks. Any questions during the transition process can be directed to:
