Geena Luckett of Wallbrook Nova Scotia was named Atlantic’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2024 at the regional event held in Antigonish July 30-31.

Like many in the agriculture industry, Geena Luckett’s connection to farming came through her family when her father became a fruit and vegetable producer to supply his specialty grocery stores. The transition from city girl to farm life as an eleven-year-old sparked an interest and a passion that saw her return to the family vineyard in 2012, following her graduation from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Management Degree.

Since then, Luckett has learned the business by working in all facets of the operation from harvesting grapes to managing events and working alongside the winemaker. In the past decade, she has become co-owner and general manager of Luckett’s Vineyards, a 130-acre operation

Geena has combined a commitment to quality and customer service to make Luckett’s Vineyards a premier wine tourism destination producing L’Acadie, Osceola Muscat, Seyval Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Lucie Kuhlmann, Leon Millot, Triomphe d’Alsace and Castel Wines. Geena has navigated the challenges of grape growing and wine making with passion, creativity, technology, and innovation.

A strong community supporter, Geena’s contributions reach beyond her commodity and her local community with involvement in Wine Growers of Nova Scotia, Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce, Wolfville Business Development Corporation, Nova Scotia Ice Wine Festival and Taste of Nova Scotia program.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2024 will be chosen at the National event in Lethbridge, Alberta from November 27-Dec 1, 2024.
