The California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA) has existed since 2007 to identify potential sources of contamination and to build consumer confidence in food safety programs. Based in Salinas, the organization is currently aggregating data from members who grow whole-head romaine. With 5,000 samples already received, study results are expected in 2025.
As part of its educational mandate, LGMA has produced a number of videos called “Tips and Tricks for Field Sanitation.” They are available in English and Spanish.
One video focuses on harvester belt tension devices for sanitation repeatability. Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItTzlq2gEpQ&list=PLcT3ygrQ12NNf3BXXhM8Dddqfx0XW9K5Z&index=4
