Saskatchewan’s premier announced on August 15 that David Marit will assume the portfolio of agriculture minister. He has served the southwestern riding of Wood River since 2016. Previous to that, he was president of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities from 2006 to 2014.
No stranger to rural affairs and communities, Marit owns a farm along with his brother.
The summer announcement comes on the heels of last week’s resignation of previous ag minister Lyle Stewart who had been in the role since 2012. He is focusing his energies on fighting colon cancer.
