CropLife Canada welcomes two new vice-presidents of chemistry and plant biotechnology. It’s the Ottawa-based trade association representing the developers, manufacturers and distributors of pesticides and plant biotechnology innovations.
Alan Schlachter is the new vice-president of chemistry. He previously worked at the Canadian Meat Council and has held various senior trade and policy positions with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Early in his career he was a mixed grain and beef farmer in Alberta. Alan is proficient in English, French and Spanish.
Ian Affleck has been promoted to vice-president of plant biotechnology following the retirement of Dr. Stephen Yarrow. In his new role, Ian will work with domestic and international agricultural stakeholders and governments on policies, regulations and science related to modern plant breeding. He joined CropLife Canada in 2014 and prior to that worked at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for 10 years with a focus on the regulation of novel plants and new varieties.
