BioEnterprise to link small food producers with clean technologies

.
.

Bioenterprise, based in Guelph, Ontario, will be aiding small food producers to go green, thanks to $2 million from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. The funds are earmarked to launch the FoodShift program.

The idea is to connect agri-businesses and small-scale food processors with clean tech technologies in the region. Businesses that qualify for the program will receive up to $50,000 in matching funds from FoodShift towards green upgrades.

“The initiative will help 30 industrial food processors to future-proof their businesses, support an additional 30 clean-tech companies to commercialize their technologies and grow their revenues and support 200 jobs,” says Dave Smardon, Bioenterprise’s president and CEO.
