Ontario’s agricultural community welcomes the return of Lisa Thompson, MPP Huron-Bruce, as the agriculture minister in the re-elected government of Premier Doug Ford. She has been a tireless advocate through a myriad of pandemic issues.
“I am very pleased to have continuity for three significant provincial portfolios that influence Ontario’s fruit and vegetable farmers,” says Charles Stevens, chair, Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association. “OFVGA welcomes Minister Thompson, Minister Piccini and Minister McNaughton back to cabinet, and look forward to continuing to work with them, Premier Ford, and the rest of the Ontario Government on strengthening Ontario’s fruit and vegetable production.”
As Stevens mentioned, agriculture is impacted by many ministries. They are:
- Monte McNaughton, labour, training and skills development
- David Piccini, environment, conservation and parks
- Caroline Mulroney, transportation
- Vic Fedeli, economic development, job creation and trade
- Peter Bethlenfalny, finance
