The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association (OFVGA) is reaching out to growers in all municipalities to get an accurate picture of barriers growers are facing when trying to construct, renovate, and maintain housing for the temporary foreign worker (TFW) employees on their farms. The results from this survey will help inform OFVGA on ways to support growers by advocating for provincial and municipal policies that help growers meet the housing obligations for their TFW employees in an effective and efficient manner.
To capture the current state of grower experiences and interactions with municipal departments, the survey is looking at a timeframe since January 2023.
For the purposes of this survey, ‘farm worker housing’ is defined as any housing your farm provides to TFWs you employ, including from the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP) and from Ag Stream.
While the survey is focused on capturing current challenges, growers are welcome to also share success stories and best practices they have witnessed at the municipal level. This will help identify supportive policies and approaches that could be modeled in the future.
The survey has 14 questions. Estimated time to complete is five to 10 minutes.
