Bridges to Success has launched Capstone, a new national farm business management program designed to help Canadian farmers prepare their businesses for the future. 

Delivered through four immersive modules in five Canadian locations, Capstone combines expert instruction, practical application, industry exposure and peer learning. Participants will apply what they learn directly to their own operations while developing a strategic roadmap for their businesses. 

“Canadian farmers are managing increasingly complex businesses, in ever changing and challenging environments,” said Heather Broughton, found of Bridges to Success and developer of the Capstone Program. “Production remains important, but today’s farm leaders must also understand finance, strategy, people, succession, risk and the broader environment in which businesses operate.” 

Capstone was developed to provide participants with the time, tools and perspective to step back from day-to-day operations and focus on where their businesses are going next. 

The program covers: 

• -  Strategic planning and business assessment
•  
• -  Financial management and decision-making
•  
• -  Leadership, communication and personal effectiveness
•  
• -  Succession planning and human resources
•  
• -  Marketing and business development
•  
• -  Risk management and agricultural policy 

Participants will work on their own businesses throughout the program and leave with a strategic plan, practical management tools, stronger relationships with peers and advisors, and greater confidence in their decision-making. 

“A strategic plan is not created in a week,” Broughton said. “it is built through reflection, discussion, application and action. Capstone gives participants the opportunity to develop that plan while learning alongside other farm leaders who understand the realities of Canadian agriculture.” 

The first Capstone module, focused on vision, strategy and financial foundations, will be held December 1–5, 2026, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 

Subsequent modules will take place in: 

• Halifax, Nova Scotia – March 9-13, 2027
•  
• Calgary, Alberta  December 7-11, 2027
•  
• Montreal, Québec and Ottawa, Ontario – March 14-18, 2028 

The national delivery model will expose participants to different regions, businesses, industries and policy environments while building a network of farm leaders from across Canada. 

Capstone is open to farm owners, successor-generation leaders, farm managers, family farm partners, agribusiness entrepreneurs and producers seeking strategic direction. The program is designed for operations of all sizes; the primary prerequisite is a willingness to learn and apply new ideas.
