A Washington Potato Company processing plant was destroyed by fire in central Washington state on January 21 say local news reports.

Located in Warden, a small town of 3,000 people, it’s one of three dehydrated potato plants in Washington state where off-size, blemished potatoes are processed into products such as instant mashed potatoes.

Owner Frank Tiegs is well-known in the U.S. Northwest where he owns plants in the Tri-Cities as well as major facilities in Oregon and Idaho states. Two years ago, he was in the news for paying $23 million to pipe water from the Columbia River to a dryland area to grow potatoes and other row crops. Link here:  https://bit.ly/3t3qvaG
