Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, hobbled with a minority government, announced a new 36-member cabinet on November 20. The new deputy prime minister is Chrystia Freeland who will be responsible for Canada-U.S. relations but also intergovernmental affairs.  

Quebec-raised Marie-Claude Bibeau returns as minister of agriculture and agri-food.      

Agriculture will intersect with many files. For instance, Quebec lawyer François-Philippe Champagne is the new global affairs minister. Jonathan Wilkinson becomes the new minister of environment and climate change. Mary Ng returns in charge of small business but also international trade. Carla Qualtrough is a new face in the portfolio of employment, workforce development and disability inclusion. 

Of the 338 MPs elected, 98 are new to their roles. The 43rd Parliament will be recalled December 5, 2019 for the delivery of the throne speech.
