The BC Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (BCPVGA) has hired Clayton Botkin as its new general manager. 

He is a professional agrologist with more than 20 years of experience in agricultural production, management, extension and education. His career spans regulated markets, corporate and government roles, and industry-led initiatives, including recent work supporting the BC Poultry Health Network’s biosecurity and disease prevention program.

As general manager, he will lead the association’s operations, oversee its applied research portfolio and advance the interests of BC potato and field vegetable growers through effective leadership and government relations.

“I am incredibly humbled to step into this role, and look forward to working with BC’s potato and vegetable growers and industry partners to support and advance this important sector,” says Botkin.

BCPVGA board chair Bill Zylmans welcomed his appointment, noting the association is well positioned for future growth. 

“We are thrilled to welcome Clayton as our general manager,” said Zylmans. “With the recent addition of the storage crop sector to the association, it’s more important than ever to have the right leadership in place to deliver industry-driven research and value to our members. I have every confidence in Clayton’s ability to build upon the vision we’ve established and help guide the association through its next chapter.”

On behalf of the board of directors, Zylmans also expressed appreciation to outgoing general manager Jennifer Winning for her contributions to the association.
