Minimum wage rates in Ontario increased by 50 cents to $15.50 per hour on October 1, 2022. This increase is tied to the Ontario Consumer Price Index for 2022.

Note that 2023 Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications must state at least $15.50 per hour. As per the employment agreement for Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP), workers must be paid the provincial minimum wage or the wage rate determined annually by ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada), whichever is greater. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/foreign-workers/agricultural/seasonal-agricultural/working-conditions.html

Manitoba’s wage rate moved to $13.50 per hour and is set to move up to $15.00 per hour by October 2023. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson cites the need to attract and retain workers in her province.

Wage rates also increased in New Brunswick ($13.75/hr), Newfoundland ($13.70/hour) and Nova Scotia ($13.60/hour) as of October 1, 2022. See graphic.
