The 2026 Greenhouse Cup, hosted by Migrant Workers Community Program (MWCP) and Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG) concluded on Sunday, September 27, bringing together International Agricultural Workers (IAWs), growers, sponsors, community organizations, and local leaders for a celebration of sport, community and appreciation.

The two-day tournament began September 20 with 10 teams competing for the coveted Greenhouse Cup. Four teams advanced to championship day, with Hacienda North Farms, Jem Farms, Vine Fresh Acres, and Golden Acre Farms returning to compete for the title. 

Final Standings:

1st Place: Hacienda North Farms

2nd Place: Jem Farms

3rd Place: Golden Acre Farms

4th Place: Vine Fresh Acres

The championship celebration brought together players, supporters, sponsors, growers, volunteers, and community leaders, including MWCP chair Martin Varela; Rachel Boucher, manager, marketing, communications & public relations at OGVG; MP Dave Epp; Leamington mayor Hilda MacDonald; and Rodrigo Baez, Consul of Mexico in Leamington.

“The success of the Greenhouse Cup is a reflection of what can be achieved when our community comes together,” said Richard Lee, executive director of OGVG. “Without the support of our sponsors, greenhouse farms, the MWCP, volunteers, community partners, and local dignitaries who share a commitment to recognizing and supporting International Agricultural Workers. The Greenhouse Cup is about more than soccer. It is an opportunity to celebrate the vital role IAWs play in our greenhouse sector and communities, while fostering connection, friendship, and a sense of belonging.”

The annual tournament continues to serve as a meaningful opportunity for International Agricultural Workers from across the region to come together, strengthen social connections, promote health and wellness, and engage with the broader community. The event reflects a shared commitment to ensuring IAWs feel welcomed, valued, and supported during their time in Canada, while recognizing the important contributions they make to Ontario's greenhouse sector.
