The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has noted on its website that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the publication of the 2020-2025 re-evaluation and special review work plan has been postponed. The work plan is normally published every spring to inform stakeholders of expected publication dates of proposed or final decisions of all ongoing re-evaluations and special reviews as well as new re-evaluations planned to be initiated in this five-year time frame. Health Canada is making every effort to maintain operations; however, some ongoing scientific reviews are currently experiencing delays.
An updated work plan (2020-2025) will be released at a later date.
Chris Duyvelshoff, crop protection advisor, Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association says, “Key active ingredients that were expected to have re-evaluation decisions published in 2020 include the neonicotinoids, clothianidin, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam, mancozeb fungicide, and linuron herbicide. The timeline status for decisions on these active ingredients, and all others, is currently uncertain.”
