The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has published a special review decision for the fungicide chlorothalonil (trade names include Bravo and Echo) that proposes cancellation of all food uses, including the use on potatoes for the control of late blight, early blight and Botrytris vine rot.

For the Fruit & Vegetable Growers of Canada (formerly Canadian Horticultural Council) to respond effectively to this consultation, grower input on how these products are actually used is essential. In the absence of this input, PMRA will use the most conservative scenario during the risk assessment process (e.g. 100% crop treated, maximum possible application rates, etc).

The Potato Growers of Alberta have asked their membership to provide input through a survey. There are 15 questions that will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Responses to these surveys are anonymous. The survey deadline is April 15, 2022.

Any potato growers across Canada who uses these products are invited to take the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P98D3Q7
