WALI general manager departs

.
.

After 15 years of service to the British Columbia Agriculture Council, the Western Agricultural Labour Initiative (WALI) and ARDCorp., Reg Ens is departing the organization on March 28.

His replacement will be Veronica Moreno, the new general manager of WALI.

Moreno has been WALI’s program manager since 2018, and in that time has been a critical member of the team, working tirelessly to support employers accessing Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) coming to British Columbia while assisting with the expansion of WALI’s services and programs.

In a farewell note, Reg Ens said:

“It has been an incredible opportunity to work with great people and serve the farm community, One of the reasons I was originally hired was to bring more financial sustainability and stability to the organization. I’m proud to say that we achieved that goal with BCAC, and, after incredible growth, I'm thrilled that we are seeing that goal met with WALI as well.”

In passing the baton, he said:

“Veronica has been an integral part of WALI for six years. During this time, she has established strong connections with government partners in Canada and abroad, gained the respect of foreign workers and settlement agencies, and is trusted by employers. Moving into the new role, Veronica will ensure that day-to-day services continue with minimal disruption. Veronica and the leadership team at BCAC will be making further adjustments as needed to continue providing excellent support for farm employers.”

To BC growers, continue submitting TFW-specific questions through the WALI Portal. This allows the entire team to track messages and respond as needed. If you have strategic or transition-related questions, please contact Danielle Synotte at BCAC (dsynotte@bcac.ca).
