Mastronardi Produce has launched its latest SUNSET Bombs product in retail, introducing Bahama Bombs to its loyal fanbase. A bright orange grape tomato on-the-vine, Bahama Bombs are a sister variety to the acclaimed Sugar Bombs, boasting the same off-the-charts sweet flavour in a vibrant tropical hue. Mastronardi Produce introduced the new product at the SEPC Southern Innovations trade show and it hit store shelves in March 2024.

“Mastronardi Produce has a long record of driving growth across categories through expert innovation, and snacking tomatoes are our specialty,” said Dean Taylor, VP of business development at Mastronardi Produce Ltd. “Sugar Bombs have been wildly successful since their launch in 2018, we’re confident that Bahama Bombs will bring excitement to the category.”

On-the-vine tomatoes represent the fastest growing segment of the snacking tomato category. Now with six flavourful SKUs to its name, the Bombs lineup continues to tap into the demand for high-flavour snacking items. Capturing the attention of consumers and mainstream media alike, Mastronardi Produce and its Bombs line were recently highlighted by The Wall Street Journal in an article exploring the world of “designer produce.”

“This special sister variety was developed in collaboration with a valued seed company partner, and we knew we had a winner when they presented us with this variety,” added Taylor. “Mastronardi Produce’s investments in R&D along with our partner relationships that span several decades are key to what sets us apart.”

Mastronardi Produce has more than one million square feet of global trial space dedicated to research and development, with approximately 500 promising new varieties from around the world on trial at any given time. Bahama Bombs performed exceedingly well under trial and were pushed to market under the coveted line of Bombs snacking tomatoes on-the-vine.
