The Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada wrapped up its 2026 Conference and AGM in Ottawa on March 12, vowing to strengthen its national voice. Marcus Janzen, a BC greenhouse grower, introduced the board of directors in his role as president.
- First week of March 2026, the federal agriculture minister visited Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island to meet with farmers, processors, industry partners.
- Minimum wages are set to increase in five provinces and territories on April 1. Atlantic provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are raising rates as is the Yukon.
- Growers are encouraged to register by March 17.
- Reminder to employers in the 2026 Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program. All employer-provided housing must include secure, exterior locking doors and windows.
