A joint venture has successfully built a vertically integrated blueberry-growing and marketing operation from scratch. This included building its own tissue culture laboratory to propagate plants and a complete nursery facility, finding suitable locations to plant in India and managing the supply chain all the way to the end consumer.
Dennis Beesigamukama, a postdoctoral fellow at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, Nairobi, Kenya, is the 2024 recipient of the Norman E. Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application.
