David Kozuki, Golden Retreat Vineyards, in Summerland is the proud winner of the 2022 Viticulturist of the Year Award. The judges were impressed with his eye for detail in grape growing. Vine balance, uniformity throughout the vineyard, vertical shoots and good bunch spacing were all exceptional.
The second cohort of young Canadians has been named for an 18-month term. Colby Robertson, an Albertan working in the potato sector, is one of the diverse group.
Dr. Debbie Inglis, director of Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, was recently recognized with the Wine Industry Champion Award. She’s an academic leader with broad connections from vineyard to government to industry.
