The University of Guelph returns to The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair showcasing its commitment to shaping Canada’s agri-food system through innovation and research.

From Nov. 6 to Nov. 15, at Exhibition Place in Toronto, U of G will bring its experts from the classroom to the community. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the role the University plays in securing a safe, reliable and more resilient food future for Ontario.

As food costs rise and global disruption pressures supply chains, the fair brings the public directly to the people, science and partnerships that propel Canada’s Food University to improve life.

“For generations, the University of Guelph has worked alongside Ontario’s agri-food sector to turn research and new ideas into practical solutions. Today, that work is more important than ever,” says Dr. Rene Van Acker, U of G president and vice-chancellor. “From artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to strengthening our food supply chains, we’re helping farmers and businesses respond to challenges and seize new opportunities.”

“The Royal is a wonderful opportunity to share that work, celebrate our partnerships and introduce people to the researchers and students who are helping shape the future of food and agriculture,” he adds.

New exhibits will focus on agrotechnology and the use of AI and drones to shape plant breeding and explore Guelph’s water cycle.

View an aquifer tank up close, or the most sophisticated lysimeter in North America. Or visit a vertical farm system powered by a U of G-developed pump that circulates nutrient-enriched water through grow columns.

Take part in Your Future in Food, U of G’s education symposium, to discover how scientific innovations and emerging technologies in STEM fields impact society and are applied to solving real-world problems in food and farming.

This event, on Thursday, Nov. 12, will feature OAC student ambassadors sharing their experiences studying plant biology, food science, policy development and more. Hosted by the Ontario Agricultural College’s Liaison Program.

Tickets can be purchased now on the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair’s website.
