The Pest Management Regulatory Agency has proposed to end use of the fungicide chlorothalonil which is commonly used in potato production. Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada are conducting a survey of in-field use to respond appropriately. Deadline is April 15, 2022.
This new fungicide will help growers fill a hole left by lost powdery mildew tools. Gatten inhibits the powdery mildew pathogen from absorbing nutrients from cherries and grapes, making it impossible for the pathogen to grow and expand.
