Paul Bosc Senior, an early adopter of many production techniques in the Ontario grape industry, has passed at the age of 88. The Grape Growers of Ontario Award of Merit was presented to him in 2017.
Brothers Brad & Travis Hopcott, cranberry growers from Pitt Meadows, BC were one of two national winners from seven regional farmers at Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer national event held November 22-26, 2023.
The Prince Edward Island Potato Board honoured four of its leaders at its fall banquet on November 24. One of them was assistant general manager, Brenda Simmons, who has retired after 25 years of service.
The Ontario Produce Marketing Association honoured a number of industry leaders at its November 24 gala. The Outstanding Achievement Award was won by the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association for its More Than a Migrant Worker initiative.
The Atlantic Region will be represented by new potato growers Marijke Oudshoon and Willem van de Wetering of Morell, PEI. BC/Yukon will be represented by cranberry growers Brad and Travis Hopcott, Pitt Meadows. Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer national event is to be held in Laval Québec from November 22-26.
