The Prince Edward Island Potato Board honoured four of its leaders at its fall banquet on November 24. One of them was assistant general manager, Brenda Simmons, who has retired after 25 years of service.
The Ontario Produce Marketing Association honoured a number of industry leaders at its November 24 gala. The Outstanding Achievement Award was won by the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association for its More Than a Migrant Worker initiative.
The Atlantic Region will be represented by new potato growers Marijke Oudshoon and Willem van de Wetering of Morell, PEI. BC/Yukon will be represented by cranberry growers Brad and Travis Hopcott, Pitt Meadows. Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer national event is to be held in Laval Québec from November 22-26.
Dr. Rose Buitenhuis, director, biological crop protection, Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, is one of 14 Excellence in Agriculture award winners recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs.
Farm & Food Care’s sixth edition of The Real Dirt on Farming will be published in November 2023 with winning photo entries of a national contest. Special shout-out to Megan Rae, Farm to Plate category winner who spotlighted strawberries.
