Thursday September 28th is Ontario’s first Test Your Smoke Alarm Day.  Sadly, there were 133 fatalities in the province last year – the most in 20 years.  As part of Test Your Smoke Alarm Day, all Ontarians are encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety, and home fire escape planning.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has created free, downloadable resources in multiple languages (including Spanish) so everyone can share this safety message.  The files are downloadable at www.testyoursmokealarmday.ca.  The theme of this year’s campaign is “Saved by the Beep.”

Ontario growers are encouraged to test smoke alarms in all housing, work spaces, etc.
