Prince Edward Islander John Griffin becomes the new president and CEO of the World Potato Congress effective July 1, 2022. Ontarian Dr. Peter Vander Zaag will support him as vice-president.
The Ontario cabinet, under Premier Doug Ford, was sworn in on June 24, 2022. Lisa Thompson, MPP Huron-Bruce, returned as minister of agriculture, food and rural affairs, a role that she’s held for a year.
Dr. Darby McGrath will lead a team of more than 50 scientists and technicians in her new role. She joined Vineland in 2013 as a research scientist.
Dr. Nancy Tout, a 21-year veteran of Syngenta Canada, has accepted the role of chief scientific officer at the Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan.
Four new members join the board of directors for the Ontario Produce Marketing Association. They are: Michael Miranda, Farm Boy; Ariel Nevado, Metro Inc.; Dustin Wellman, Wonderful Sales and Agnes Boutros, Mastronardi Produce Ltd.
