McCain Foods Foods USA Inc., the world’s largest producer of frozen French fries, is investing $300 million in its Othello, Washington potato processing facility. The expanded plant will require 11,000 more acres of potatoes to fill capacity.

The manufacturers of Manzate Max have been granted registration of their product for control of fungi on apples, potatoes and vegetable crops. The fungicide, a liquid formulation, is targeted at a broad spectrum of key diseases.

Louise Fresco, president of Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands joined Syngenta’s board of directors, effective April 12, 2019. The university is highly regarded world-wide for its research in horticulture and other agricultural sciences.

AgScape, the voice of agriculture in the classroom for Ontario, has hired Glenna Banda as its new executive director. She has headed The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington (CFGW) for the past nine years.
