John Vanthof, an NDP MPP for Timiskaming-Cochrane since 2011, has been named NDP deputy leader for the 2018 fall session in the Ontario legislature. He’s also a shadow critic for the ministry of agriculture, food and rural affairs.
- Saskatchewan’s new agriculture minister, David Marit, hails from the southwestern region of the prairie province. He has represented the riding of Wood River since 2016.
- Fraser Hetherington joins Stokes Seeds as the new executive vice president to oversee marketing, product and supplier strategies out of the company’s office in Thorold, Ontario.
- Ken Forth’s dedication and involvement in the Canadian fruit & vegetable industry and SAWP program has earned him a degree from University of Guelph.
- Ernie Hardeman is Ontario’s new minister of agriculture, food and rural affairs under Ontario’s new premier, Doug Ford. This is Hardeman’s second foray into ministering agricultural affairs, which he previously managed under Mike Harris.
